There's a step in how we make ONE11 that most brands skip completely. It's also the step that takes the longest, costs the most, and makes the biggest difference. We think it's worth explaining.
The problem with "just tallow"
Tallow skincare has had a real moment, and deservedly so — it's a simple, single ingredient that's structurally close to what human skin produces.
But here's what we noticed looking at the market: nearly every tallow product on the shelf is tallow, maybe a scent, and that's the whole story. Whip it, jar it, done.
That's a fine product. It just isn't an interesting one. And it leaves the most useful part of the formula untouched — the oil.
What we do instead
Before any tallow goes into a ONE11 jar, we start somewhere else entirely: with virgin organic Spanish olive oil.
That oil then goes through five full days of infusion with activated oxygen. Over those days the oil transforms — it thickens, densifies, and becomes something structurally different from what we started with. Only after that does the grass-fed tallow come in.
So by the time our product looks like a normal jar of tallow balm, the majority of the work is already finished.
Why five days and not five hours
Because you can't rush an infusion.
Time is what allows the oxygen to fully incorporate into the oil. A quick pass produces a fundamentally different — and lesser — result. Five days is simply the point at which we're satisfied with the oil.
It's the least convenient decision we make. It slows down every batch. It's also the reason our jars don't feel like anything else.
Blanket and spark
The simplest way we've found to explain our formula:
The tallow is the blanket. It's close in structure to your skin's own moisture. It seals, nourishes, and gives the product its substance and staying power.
The oxygen is the spark. It's what turns a good base into something with life in it — the difference you notice the first time you use it.
Neither works as well alone. The blanket without the spark is just insulation. That's most tallow balm on the market.
What this means for you
Three honest things:
You'll use less than you expect. These are dense formulas. Start with a small amount.
It won't feel like lotion. It's richer and more substantial by design. Many people prefer it at night at first.
Every jar takes over a week to exist. We can't produce these quickly, which is why we run small batches and why we don't discount often.
Why we tell you all this
Because it's the entire reason ONE11 exists. We could make this faster and cheaper. We'd have more product and better margins. We choose not to.
Virgin organic Spanish olive oil. Five days of activated oxygen. Grass-fed tallow from a small family farm. Small batches, made in the USA.
Anyone can whip tallow. We infuse ours with oxygen.
